JAY WEATHERS - CHILL OUT ZONE TOO

Jay Weathers has already followed up the Chill Out Zone EP with the 6 track EP Chill Out Zone TOO.
Jay Weathers has worked with a range of well established British artists such as Wiley, Jookie Mundo and English Frank to promote his first solo effort.  He is a producer that has definitely pushed past the barriers and created a new sound direction for UK urban music.  A sound that comes with a slower tempo and less grimey, more mellow vibe. Jay Weathers has a distinctive sound that helps easily identify his tunes and sets him apart from other UK producers within the scene.

UrbanVoice UK's opinion:
I'm a bit torn in writing this review as I really do rate Jay Weathers as a producer and I do not want to knock the EP as it is definitely worth downloading. I just feel that Chill Out Zone TOO is a bit repetitive for my liking, which leads me to skip some tracks or lose interest in listening until the end. I can't help thinking maybe the tracks would stand out more against the tracks on the featured artists' albums because Jay Weathers is definitely setting trends and sounding different to other UK producers out there at the moment.  I feel that there is not much range on the the Chill out Zone TOO EP itself - having said that you might disagree with me.
My favourite tracks are You & Me and Closer.

MZ. BRATT - ELEMENTS MIXTAPE

Mz. Bratt has been building up the hype for some time now and this female artist is one that I have my eye on, to blow for this year.  This 'pretty little lightie' definitely gets dark on her 12 track mixtape Elements. Opening with a Wiley intro, Mz. Bratt goes in hard on this mixtape with familiar tracks such as Get Dark and Selecta.  Mz. Bratt is one female artist to contend with as she's not just 'good for a lady mc', she's a good mc - full stop!  The mixtape is an eclectic mix of dancehall, grime and dubstep demonstrating her ability to grace any musical genre, which will no douencourage mainstream success.  Mz. Bratt comes across intelligent, hungry and focused in her chat striving to succeed in the UK music industry.

UrbanVoice UK's opinion
The Elements mixtape is up their with some of the top male artist mixtape's out on the grime scene at the moment featuring artists such as as Wizzy Wow, Terror Danjah and Wiley.  I'm actually having trouble trying to decide which one is my favourite track as there are quite a few tight flows over big beats on this mixtape.  Although, I think I have Make It Rain and I Can't Stop on replay the most.  I foresee bigger things in the future for Mz. Bratt and she seems to be dedicated, working hard to acheive her dream - and what's so wrong with that.

Overall Score: 5/5

K-OS - IT'S ABOUT TIME MIXTAPE

If I'm honest with you this is the first time that I have been introduced to K-OS, an East London Grime artist and I am definitely surprised that I have not heard of him sooner.  Not new to the Grime scene K-OS has released 16 definite Grime tracks on the It's About Time mixtape working with producers such as Dot Rotten, Jemzi and G.Tank.  If you don't know about K-OS, like me, you will get to know about him as an artist for sure once you have listened to this mixtape.  The track Forever produced by Dot Rotten is a big track on this mixtape.  Repping for E12 K-OS makes it clear that he is not a bull sh*t artist and neither does he want to hear it from other artists.  He spits honestly over his tracks building a sense of the streets and the London struggle and attacks the beat well on the first track It's About Time.  The track entitled Kick That Down and Realest Talk are probably the realest tracks on the mixtape.  Dot Rotten who has produced 5 of the 16 tracks definitely produces quality beats on this  helping to make this mixtape memorable.
K-OS comes with a definite UK sound, no US imitation bars found here, no mention of Escalades, chains etc and this is what I most admire about this gritty mixtape.  K-OS does not try to imitate or be anyone else but himself on this mixtape and it seems like it has been a long time coming.  It's About Time is honest and home grown with an organic flavour portraying nothing but long hours and hard work put in to produce it.

Hood Soldierz - Fire (No Strings Attached)

Lyttle-Lyttz, Delirious, Kage Campbell, Joker, Rizzy, Stelf, Lexi & Naomi White also known as Hood Soldierz have created nothing less than a feel good party track here.  Fire (No Strings Attached) is guarenteed to make you want to dance with its up tempo beat and catchy chorus.  The lyrics are also on form to match the lively beat which means that is a hit with men and women alike.

With eight members in this group the track is able to keep flowing and as individual as each member is they simultaneously feed off and compliment each other.  Fire is a polished and neat track that shows Hood Soldierz are established and unique in this hard to stand out scene.  This group have a quality reminiscent of N-Dubz, Boy Better Know and Roll Deep and Fire is a memorable and lively song which will definitely be on my play list.  With this track it's simple, I like it, and I think you will too.  You can check out their video on the Urban Voice UK Home page.

Wiley featuring Alexa Goddard (Produced by Jay Weathers)

When Urban Voice UK first heard Seduction, produced by one of London's most progressive producers of the moment, Jay Weathers, I instantly like it.  My brother on the other hand responded with I don't like it.  Fair enough - that is his opinion so I thought, 'well, maybe it's one for the ladies'.

Jay Weathers has managed to produce a laid back, chilled, easy to listen to summer time jam.  Something metaphorically comparable to a cold drink on a hot summers day.  The track is one that you could either turn up on your car stereo and blare out of your speakers whilst cruising around town or just as easily listen to when chilling at home.

Wiley is prominent on the track with his well known voice and definitely has the ladies in mind when casually flowing his thoughts over the track.  The Eski Boy, Wiley,  seems comfortable with his laid back chat flowing over the repetitive distorted keyboard chord in the background.  Coming in at the chorus Alexa Goddard sweetens the track with her sugar sweet breathy vocals.  The three elements, Jay Weathers, Wiley and Alexa Goddard makes Seduction an instant hit.

Rumour has it that a video for the song will be coming out soon.  Urban Voice UK hope this is true and looks forward to posting the video soon for you to all enjoy.  I will keep you posted.

Jay Kast - Grime Wayz

Paying homage to grime and London, Jay Kast compliments the definite grime beat flowing like liquid over the trickling melody.  Jay Kast spits about all things grime, not in an angry or aggressive tone, but instead he wisely chooses to chat with a relatively soothing melodic vibe.
On the track Jay Kast covers all aspects of a grime lifestyle from twitter and grime daily to hoodies, grime raves and grime ho's.  There's something nostalgic about this track that took me back to my days on pirate radio which leads me to conclude that any londoner will be able to relate to this track.
There's no glamour, champers or sexy model females mentioned here and definitely no r'n'b, hip-hop US style, just straight up sophisticated and matured, grime UK flavour.

Ghetts - Who's on the panel

Ghetts gritty lyrics and unique scratchy tone flow over a repetitive beat. Ghetts comes on the track attacking the beat and the UK's leading Urban DJ's simultaneously.

The lyrics are open and honest as he speaks his mind on what appears to be a blast at a recent Top MC's hot list.  The track title is no mistake, the lyrics reflect Ghetts' charge at the so called 'panel'.  With no holding back Ghetts claims his right as the best MC 'running tings' in the UK urban/grime scene.

Some might find the track a bit harsh but I feel the honesty and heart that Ghetts has put into the track. There is no messing around on this track and Ghetts gets straight to the point.
