NEW VIDEO: Sway - Level Up

Sway, the UK rapper from Harringey in North London has returned with a new banger 'Level Up' featuring Kelsey and JME.  I have been a fan of Sway ever since his debut album 'This is my Demo' released in February 2006. To this day, I absolutely love that album and used to have it on constant rewind in my car. With Sway's witty lyrics and fresh approach to UK rap I predicted big things for Sway. I wasn't wrong as he was snapped up by Konvict Music, Akons' record label in the US and for me, here is where it went down hill.  I feel sorry to say this but I was disappointed with the follow up releases, for me Sway's songs and albums were a shadow of his former self apart from "F UR X" which featured female MC $tush. Finally 5 years later there is a song from Sway that I like.

Sway is a fantastic UK artist it's just a shame that he has not been able to capture my attention to the same level as his debut album. Great to have Sway back collaborating with established UK artists such as Flux Pavilion and JME. I want to hear more tracks like 'Level Up' from Sway.

UrbanVoice UK Score: 3.75/5

Free Download: Simon Jnr Beats - 'Aeroplanes'

New to UrbanVoice UK is Simon Beats Jnr a producer from London with his latest Digital Album titled 'Aeroplanes'.

Available as a free download 'Aeroplanes' is a 24-track album in your choice of MP3 320, FLAC, or just about any other format you could possibly desire.

Simon Jr has compiled an instrumental hip hop album which mostly consists of themes and samples from around the world, hence the title "Aeroplanes." We see features from Amsterdam , Beijing International and Norman Manley International, Jamaica.

UrbanVoice UK's Opinion: The album is a collection of hip hop, funk, soul, reggae and Latin a truly international inspired album. My favourite tracks are 'Spark', 'Operation Dreadlock' and 'Risky Business'. Some of my older friends would most definitely appreciate this album and I could definitely play this on a Sunday in the background when chilling with friends. Definitely worth the download as it adds a bit of variety to my music collection.

UrbanVoice UK Score: 3/5

NEW VIDEO: Nyja n Tzer - Wen I'm Inside

This video right here shows that hard work definitely pays off.  I last reviewed Nyja n Tzer, the male and female duo, in July 2007 and since they have clearly been back in the studio to work on their latest track and even hooked up with video director Elmino da great who has worked with the likes of Ms Dynamite, Tim Westwood, Bashy and Sway.  These two have definitely improved their flow and lyrical content.  This time Nyja n Tzer are back with their track entitled 'Wen I'm Inside''. If these artists continue to work hard and grow then the only way is up, really.

Check out the video for 'Wen I'm Inside'.  Hit that 'like' button below if you're feeling it!

Coldside Interview - Manchester's Finest Unsigned Act

As a typical ignorant-ish Londoner who believes that the world revolves around London self-contained with everything you need to get by; bars, clubs, music, chill out time and hectic time, you name it London has it. So why the need to leave?! A week ago today I was on the train to Manchester open minded and not knowing what to expect as I was leaving my comfort zone.  As I arrived in Manchester I was pleasantly surprised.  It's so much like London just friendlier, smaller and less busy.  The purpose of my trip was a back stage pass to a gig and interview with none other than Manchester's finest unsigned act Coldside.  The Mancunian trio were headlining at the Manchester Academy based on the University Campus which has seen the likes of Wale, Nero, Flux Pavilion and many others perform.  I was introduced to Coldside around November last year and immediately they stood out with their unique sound branching across all musical genres.  I can tell you that I was not disappointed when I met three down to earth, humble, seriously focused and cheeky individual characters.  Aitch, Red and Zane all hail from Manchester with a clear aim that is to dominate the UK music scene.  The gig itself was all about the music and Manchester is definitely fast becoming an urban talent force to be reckoned with.  Other artists performing live were Kapital K-O and OneDa.

Check out the edited version of the Coldside Exclusive Interview with UrbanVoice UK under the Interview tab (coming soon) and if you want you can listen to the full interview below.   Many of the other acts performing that  night were warming up/chilling out backstage so please excuse the background noise during the interview. Enjoy!!
